Two dimensional topographical maps help you plan where you want to go. But you may find yourself asking questions such as: how steep is the terrain? How long will it take you to get there? Is there a better route? Mapitfirst allows you to interactively plan your outing by viewing the trip in several dimensions. Access over 200 trail descriptions from the most renowned guidebook, the "Canadian Rockies Trail Guide" allowing you to read about the trail without flipping endlessly for your dream hike.

Mapitfirst has linked up with ClubTread, a community of like minded outdoors people. ClubTread's web site allows you to view trail descriptions and trail reports from fellow hikers and backpackers. Now you can add trail descriptions and trail reports so that others can benefit from your experience.

Mapitfirst recently added Scramble descriptions and Cross Country Ski trails to the package. Having a route description from one author is good, but if you can read two or three opinions of a scramble, you'll likely to get a better sense of what you're in for. We're pleased to offer this data at no cost and we hope it encourages you to get out more often.

Combining topographical route information with current data all in one place means you don't have to scour the internet looking for dependable, up-to-date details you need to accurately plan your trip.

    Trail Updates

Mapitfirst automatically checks for updates. Trails may get washed out, closed or changed due to fire or some other reason. Web links change or better information becomes available or they will add more information to upgrade the product. A description of the update will be posted on their web site.

    Interesting Links

Mapitfirst added some interesting links through out the maps. Click on a mountain peak and you are linked to a brief description from "Peakfinder". Peakfinder's website is a fabulous way to learn more about a mountain but also has interesting descriptions of the history and people of the area. We will be adding links to other interesting sites in the future.

    Planning

Planning your trip with friends has never been easier. Copy and paste maps, trails and pages from the guide book to your email and send them. There will be no more confusion about what trail you are hiking or where you will meet. Sign on to ClubTread's website to learn more about a trail from people who have recently been there. Planning a trip with a group of people just got simpler.

    Safety First

Peace of mind is only a click away. Use Mapitfirst to get accurate, print-friendly maps and route profiles that you can take with you, give to others, or throw it on your car dashboard – just in case.
